The birthstone for July is ruby and that is how I chose the color for the background. I decided not to design my calendar round any holidays such as Independence Day because I felt that it would take away from the design element of the calendar. The days of the week are integrated into the text of July and are organized in a way that you can locate the days of the week in white and the weekends in blue.
