Statement:

This joint web and print project represents the collective work of the Information Design Class (COM 317) in the Department of Media Cultures at the College of Staten Island, NY. For this project we attempt to break up the overwhelming and often conflicting reports of the events and aftermath of what has become known as the BP Oil Spill.

We separated the available information into six categories and working in small groups broke down and visually displayed information culled from multiple sources. We hope that this reorganized information will allow further insight into the impact of what was and continues to be one of the most significant ecological, political and economic events of 2010.
